Hemlock at Kuse Nature Preserve

Pine Family

Hemlock, Eastern "Canada Hemlock" "Hemlock Spruce" (Tsuga canadensis)

Hemlock trees once covered much of the area in Taylor County. The bark was used to tan hides. Lumber from Hemlock trees was used to build the Kuse historic barn and logs were used to build the Kuse cabin. Two Hemlock trees remain in the Kuse Nature Preserve.
