Riefenberg Family

The Willis Riefenburg family operated a greenhouse in Medford. Their residence still stands on North Second Street, now the home of the Cannon Family. The picture shows just part of the Riefenburg greenhouse next to his home, but other glassed in buildings extended over several lots. His was such a large operation that, in l901, he supplied 100,000 tomato plants for planting for the Medford Canning Company.

In April, 1898, Willis Riefenburg was elected as street commissioner.

In 1907, people living near Lake Esadore used gasoline launches built by Willis Riefenburg. He worked as City Engineer in Medford and dug trenches for the city's water mains. In April 1911, he helped put in water meters.

His wife, Marie Stamm Riefenberg, died in 1913. She had been an important part of the home and business at the greenhouse.
