Bench V at Kuse Nature Preserve

Habitat for wild plants that need open spaces and sun exists in this area. We have seeded and transplanted some of these in this location. Lupines, purple cone flowers and liatris are among such plants. Watch for butterflies and other insects that visit the blossoms.

In 2006, a geothermal system was installed to heat the house. Contractors dug a three hundred foot trench eight feet deep and put in three thousand feet of tubing. This trench lies just west of this area. The pipe was directed into the house under the stone wall. Our source of heat is now from the ground.
