Bench 9 at Kuse Nature Preserve

Many years ago, Horse Jockeys camped near this area. Learn about their presence in this community.

Thick grass grows on the trail between Bench 9 and Bench 10. Look for fuzzy catkins on Poplar trees in spring. Examine the shapes of leaves on different kinds of trees.

The Henry's Elfin Butterfly can sometimes be found in this area. Its host plant is Glossy Buckthorn.

Look for Monarch near the Common Milkweed plants. Stink Bugs also enjoy the same kind of plant. There may be an occasional Boneset plant along the edge of the trail.

Many wild apple trees have grown from the seed planted in this area to the east.
