Bench 7 at Kuse Nature Preserve

The grove of trees near Bench 7 was left to provide shade for dairy cows. In time, other trees and brush have grown up in the area. We planted small Black Hills Spruce trees next to large rocks and in depressions where they would have sufficient moisture. They have become large, mature trees.

In spring, Wild Geraniums and an occasional Yellow Trout Lily can be found in areas where there is still a bit of sunshine filtering through the leaves. Canada Goldenrod and Yellow Avens can be noted later in the season.

Various kinds of moss grow on rocks and humps of dirt.

Enjoy the ever-changing colors of the hardwood trees.
