Eastern Foxsnake at Kuse Nature Preserve
Eastern Foxsnake (Pine)
Pantherophis vulpina
This snake is commonly found in Wisconsin. It has not been seen very often in the Kuse Nature Preserve. It is non-venemous and can be over a yard long. This one has black blotches on its back and sides.
They eat rodents, small birds and amphibians.
The snake is commonly mistaken for dangerous species and often killed as a result.
